Missionaries and Members Working Together

The following video is an update of the wonderful work that is continuing to expand in the Great Australia Perth Mission with missionaries and members working together.

As the words of the famous hymn (Let Us All Press On) declare:

We will not retreat, though our numbers may be few
When compared with the opposite host in view;
But an unseen pow'r will aid me and you
In the glorious cause of truth.

Fear not, though the enemy deride;
Courage, for the Lord is on our side.
We will heed not what the wicked may say,
But the Lord alone we will obey.

If we do what’s right we have no need to fear,
For the Lord, our helper, will ever be near;
In the days of trial his Saints he will cheer,
And prosper the cause of truth.

No unhallowed hand will stop this work

The truth of God continues to go forth boldly, nobly and independent here in the great Australia Perth Mission. Our valiant band of 33 younger missionaries and 12 senior missionaries are armed with faith, the word of God and His Holy Spirit. From their flats, the missionaries are teaching the fulness of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ to the sons and daughters of God here.
This past week we have had evening devotionals with our younger and senior missionaries, daily companion study classes, Missionary Leadership Council and training meetings, all using technology.

How grateful we are to be involved in the work of the Almighty God. As our beloved Prophet has said, "I promise you that as you follow Jesus Christ, you will find sustained peace and true joy. As you keep your covenants with increasing precision, and as you defend the Church and kingdom of God on the earth today, the Lord will bless you with strength and wisdom to accomplish what only members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can accomplish."

Many farewells and new beginnings

These are days never to be forgotten. Over the past month, many of our beloved Australia Perth missionaries have flown to their homelands and families, as a result of the worldwide impact of the Covid-19 virus. How grateful we are for these missionaries and we look forward to our eternal bonds of friendship with them. Although they are far away in distance they are ever close to our hearts.

We have 33 wonderful younger missionaries and 6 amazing senior couples currently here in the Great Australia Perth Mission. They are teaching the restored gospel of Jesus Christ via technology. They have hearts of faith and courage, and are valiantly sharing the truths and doctrines of the Saviors church.  We have just participated in viewing General Conference last weekend and have been uplifted and strengthened from the words of living prophets and apostles.

Tomorrow, Good Friday, as a mission we will all be acting upon the invitation from President Nelson to fast and pray that "the Covid-19 Pandemic may be controlled, caregivers protected, economy strengthened and life normalized." We testify that Jesus Christ lives. He is the Saviour and Redeemer of this world. And as Elder Gerrit W. Gong declared, "He lives-not only then, but now; not just for some, but for all."

A Smaller Mission

After saying farewell to so many missionaries the great Australia Perth Mission has regrouped and reorganised.  We now have two zones - a Northern Zone and a Southern Zone. We have 34 wonderful missionaries and 6 devoted senior missionary couples. We are now striving to fulfill our missionary purpose in new ways during the period of restrictions associated with COVID-19.

All missionaries who can return at this time have departed. As church travel can find suitable flights and means of sending other overseas missionaries home, their parents and leaders will be advised.

Missionaries Begin Returning Home

Since the announcement that the Church would be sending home overseas missionaries serving in the Australian and new Zealand missions we have already bid farewell to lots of our missionaries. It is sad to see them go but we are grateful to know that we are fulfilling the direction from our leaders to have them return. Over the next week we will see many others return home.

We are so grateful for those who can remain and continue to serve.
