Follow-up training

Last week we had follow-up training for the new goldens and their companions. We learnt about  having effective companion study, understanding and using the training model, review of the safeguards for technology, standards of excellence and key indicators of conversion and leading like the Saviour (Matthew 20:25-28). 

Christmas Conferences

Over the last two days combined Christmas conferences were held for all of the missionaries in the mission. Those from the southern zones and the country zone attended a Southern Conference on Thursday 20th December and the two northern zones attended a Northern Conference on Friday 21st December. A big thank you to the wonderful sisters who cooked and served the delicious food and decorated the tables so beautifully.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the Spirit of Christmas by focusing on the birth, life and mission of our Saviour. Here are photos from the two conferences. How grateful we are to preach and teach the gospel to bring joy to the world.

Country Zone Conference

Today was the first Country Zone Conference with missionaries attending in Perth since the creation of the zone. Previous conferences have been held via technology. What a wonderful blessing to be able to meet together.

Mission Leadership Council

We were blessed to have Elder and Sister Ardern join us for our Mission Leadership Council. We were instructed and inspired on how to be better leaders. We appreciate the time they took to be with us.

Farewell to two of our sister missionaries

We farewelled two of our dear sister missionaries this week. Thank you both for your wonderful service here in the great Australia Perth Mission. 

Christmas Caroling in Shopping Malls

Today missionaries in a couple of zones began Christmas Caroling in some of the shopping centres and malls in Perth. This has been arranged and will be continue with appearances occurring up to and including Christmas eve. It was exciting to sing carols about the Saviour's birth and see the joy it brings to people. We were also able to personally hand out pass along card invitations to the Christmas Worship Service on Sunday the 23rd December 2018.

Zone Conferences

This past week was Zone Conferences. We were blessed to receive great training on:
Being a preach my gospel missionary; The difference between being a missionary and becoming a disciple of Christ; The principle of alignment; The faith cycle; Being a 1, 2 or 3 missionary; Missionary Mathematics, which is to have Desire, Faith in Jesus Christ, Be Obedient, Work hard and Be guided by the Spirit. We did role play on teaching the Doctrine of Christ and learnt about teaching repentance. How grateful we are to gather together to learn, be taught and edified "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:19-20).

Light the World and give as He gave - Christmas has arrived at the Mission Office

At this joyous time of year, we are so grateful for our Saviour, Jesus Christ who is the Light of the World. He spend much of His ministry caring for individuals one by one. Missionaries throughout the Perth Australia mission participated in the world wide day of service today. Many gathered to sing christmas carols, visited the elderly and rendered simple acts of service. This years Light the World initiative has four weeks of focus: Light the world, light your community, light your family and light your faith. Sunday 23rd December, special Christmas worship services will be held in each chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All are invited to join us in worshiping Him. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6 )
